Outlines

One day when I was reading some of Spurgeon's many outlines and sermons I wondered what the biblical look of a sermon was. I started to read some of the Paul's letters and realized he took every day events and made them into a sermon that people could relate to. So here are two of the outlines that I have made as the first two of many to come in the future. May God bless you as they have blessed me in the process of writing them.

Old and New
Illustration: Dr. Jykell and Mr. Hyde- this illustration of the two sides of one man shows that man has thought that one man can possess two full natures at the same time. This would show struggle that develops inside man.
There is two natures that a Child of God will face the Old sinful nature and the new being that we become.
Old Nature:  all man from the time of time of the fall of man has had a sin nature. It is the potential and the tendency to sin (to perform an action or think of something that displeases God)
Examples: The Bible during Noah’s time states there was “great wickedness” in the earth. The displeasure of God is shown through His grieved heart.
Look at our personal lives what we do in order to get out of work, to get what we want, nature of self preservation.
Called: the Children of Wrath (Eph 2:3b) This wrath being the end consequence of our actions
(also called the Children of Darkness, destruction and many other names.)
Works of the Flesh: (Gal. 5: 19-21)
Transition:  (Eph 2:4) Selfless sacrifice for us His death on the cross for the penalty
This would bring us from life to death with Christ
With this life is a new creation in us (2 Corinthians 5:17) the old passes away (sin nature) to life our new nature in Christ
Illustration: Consider that a seed that is planted is only a seed but the seed itself must die for the plant to come out of it.
NEW NATURE: New Nature resides in Christ
Called: Children of God (review the children of God verse)
Consider the Vine that is Christ. Since we are part of the vine we can bare fruit, but if we are not part of the vine we bare no fruit (Fruit of The Spirit) Gal. 5: 22-24
The Struggle: The Seven Churches in Revelations, Paul’s Letters were written to churches in need, personal difficulties in your own life can attest to that.
Challenge: Unlike the story Dr. Jykell and Mr. Hyde when we are in Christ we face the struggle of which we are going to follow. The struggle of which will show.  Examine yourself in the coming weeks see whether you show works of the flesh or Fruit of the Spirit.
